The Tamiya 3-Speed Transmission allows shift on the fly Low - Med - High, both in forward and reverse.
Forward Movement:
Using the left stick, you can switch gears on the fly. While pushing forward move stick left (low), Middle (med) or right (high). You can also start off in one of those speeds by being in that position before pressing forward. Please note, going too fast could result in flipping over your truck. Reverse Movement:
Using the left stick, you can switch gears on the fly. While pulling backwards move stick left (low), Middle (med) or right (high). You can also start off in one of those speeds by being in that position before pulling backwards. Please note, going too fast could result in jack-knife of your truck. Steering:
Using right stick press right to turn right and left to turn left while in motion.

I have recently built this kit. It is my fourth truck so I have a little experience of building these now.
Although this is a great model I do have a few criticisms. Compared to the King Hauler, Cascade Evolution and the Knight Hauler (the 3 USA trucks I have), there is a lack of quality to the kit. For example, the two overhead lights are decals! There should have been provision to install the roof lights which are provided if you install the MFCU01/03 light and sound unit.
On the subject of the MFCU, if you install this in accordance with the manual you lose the cabin detail because there is no space to install both. This is disappointing. I know clever modellers have found a workaround but I haven't been able to figure it out. That meant that I felt I had to give the windows a heavy tint to hide the ugly electronics from view through those big windows.
Another disappointment was the use of decals for parts which, on the American Trucks, would have been provided as parts on the silver spars.
Despite these moans, this is an excellent model that looks great if you build it carefully.
