Volkswagen introduced the Type 2 Delivery Van in 1950, and it was a trend-setter from the very start. Imitators came and went over the years, but the Type 2 remains an automotive icon to this day. In the U.S., it is most remembered as a favorite transport of the counterculture movement during the 1960s and 1970s. Models from this era continue to be popular with aficionados, who've affectionately nicknamed them "vee-dubs" and "hippie-mobiles."
