Notable Endurance
For a single base tank design to fight through the entirety of WWII was something of a rarity, but the Panzerkampfwagen IV proved its enduring efficacy by doing just that. The Ausf.J was the final production variant, and given the worsening situation for Nazi Germany as it was manufactured between June 1944 and March 1945, this L/48 75mm gun-toting tank was designed with streamlined production in mind. The dedicated turret rotation engine was scrapped, and an additional fuel tank added to increase range to 320km. Smoke dischargers were added to the turret as a countermeasure to enemy infantry. 1,758 Ausf.Js were produced.
