This is a great good value boat. Out of the box its fairly impressive to a relative beginner like me., who had the SR 48 previously. Handling is good, but it has to be driven right. The bodyshell takes bumps and scratches OK. Self righting is possible, see later. A friend has used a 4S battery and it works. Same friend spends a lot of time "in the boatyard" though! It is made to a cost though, and improvements are not difficult, and good value too. A bigger 4500mAh battery is useful, and I think the ESC (same one as in SR48) is then not quite up to scratch, so I ended up changing it for a 40A device. That combo runs for nearly 10 minutes and I get more than 35mph. With that extra weight, self righting is easy, and "barrel rolls" possible too. Beware spares! All flexishafts have limited life, and until recently no spares were available or even listed in UK. This has now been rectified by the (super) importers, but be aware that the brushed version uses a smaller diameter shaft and prop and does not fit!

Would a 4s 14v battery work with stock motor and esc

No this is designed for 11.1v max.
