Are these grub screws stainless steel?

They are steel, but not stainless.

Hello, are the grub screws 2BA X 3/16" cup end used to retain the carburettor to the crankcase, my motor does not indicate the engine size on the crankcase, at a guess I would say it to be a 40, kind regards, Cliff Bowes.

They are used in multiple applications... I'm afraid we don't have detailed knowledge of the older Irvine engines so can't advise on this one sorry!
