CAN I JUST TURN THE SHAFT AROUND SO IT STICKS OUT THE OTHER END

Yes you can, but see below for some notes from the tech team: "Yes it can, "BUT"  WARM collet  and end bell by holding 100w soldering iron to surfaces to soften locktight before atempting to  loosen grub screws with enclosed allen key, if grubb screw tight, heat more, not not wreck grub screw head.  
Do not hit shaft,   to move, press in vice"
