The iON XT shares the same spare parts list as the existing models for easy parts availability, plus the Maverick iON range has been updated with new-spec electronics! The Maverick iON kits lead the way with fantastic brand new top-spec features: a Maverick Element 1200mAh Ni-MH battery, MTX-248 2.GHz radio and a 2-in-1 waterproof MSRS-248 receiver/speed controller.

The motor fitted in the Maverick iON XT is the reliable MM-28 370-size motor, bolted to an aluminum motor mount for extra drivetrain durability and improved heat dissipation, so drivers can keep having fun for hours and hours! The 4WD drivetrain uses ball bearings throughout to give drivers maximum runtime and efficiency, and features a molded gear cover to keep dirt and debris away from the gears. Front and rear gear differentials easily transfer the motors power to durable driveshafts and finally to the grippy rubber wheels at all four corners.

The Maverick iON XT features a complete set of gold-colored shock caps for the oil-filled shock absorbers. These add an extra bit of color and style to the chassis, just to make it look that much cooler! The suspension also features dual-wishbone independent suspension front and rear, with reliable C-hub style front hubs and extra-strong single-piece rear hubs. The strong MS-28 servo controls the steering through a dual-point steering system that features and integrated servo saver to protect the servo against crash damage.

Finishing off every Maverick iON XT is and fully detailed, completely painted and stickered body with a design that not only looks amazing, it provides additional protection for the chassis components.

How much runtime should I expect from the 1700mAh battery in the combo pack and is the standard battery included with the car compatible with the fast charger in the combo pack?
Matt Bailey / 22nd April 2021

I'd say about 15 - 20 mins run time on this battery , yes you still get the standard battery included.

Anthony @ Wheelspin Models
Hi can you run 2 at the same time? 2 sons looking for Christmas presents. Thanks
Graham O / 20th December 2020

Yes you can run more than one at a time no problem

Ben @ Wheelspin Models
What does this rc car come with?
Seion Henry / 14th December 2020

It's ready to run - so pre built with the radio gear, battery and charger etc all included

Hi I am looking for a rc buggy for my sons 6th birthday. It will be his first rc car and he wants something that is good off road, durable, easy to handle/use, quite fast and has a spoiler. What would you recommend?
Ben / 25th August 2020

These would be ideal :-)

Ben @ Wheelspin Models
what is its top speed?
Austin Mair / 29th May 2020

Maybe around 20-25mph or so

Ben @ Wheelspin Models
how long does the battery last? how long does it take to charge? can I get an extra battery sent to Northern Ireland for a Maverick Ion XT BRAND: MAVERICK PART NUMBER: MV12808
David W Mcafee / 30th March 2019

Battery life is around 10-15 mins and they take around 6 hours to charge on the included charger.  On a fast charger it would take around 45 mins to charge.

Yes, we ship worldwide.

I am looking to buy an rc car and was wondering about the availability of spare parts and ease of repair/maintenance on this model
Sachin Solanki / 10th November 2018

These are easy to work on, and we have a full range of spares here: https://wheelspinmodels.co.uk/c/791/

Hi, What is the Tamiya male to female converter for in the combo, and is it necessary? Thanks
Stephen Malin / 24th October 2017

Yes, that converts from normal Tamiya down to Mini Tamiya, as used on this vehicle. It allows you to use the fast charger.  Pretty much all fast chargers will normally come with a standard sized Tamiya connector, rather than the mini version.

Ben @ Wheelspin Models
Hello, I am looking at the 'Maverick Ion XT' for my 10 year old nephew. Would you say that it is a manageable first R/C car? can the acceleration be adjusted on the trigger? If you think it would be a handful do you have another suggestion for an 'off road' RC car. Thank you for your assistance. Regards.
Heme Nt / 9th May 2017

Yes, we'd recommend this for a first time vehicle. We've used them ourselves on several primary school open days and they are ideal for smaller hands (aswell as us big kids!!).

Ben @ Wheelspin Models
Please could you tell me the range of the Maverick Ion XT? We're looking for something with around 100m+
Christine Jameson / 15th September 2016

Range isn't quoted for these, however it's likely to be several hundred metres in real world conditions.

We've never had one go out of range...! I think it would go out of sight before it went out of range
