Whether you've never flown RC before or you got your first taste of flying with a multirotor drone, the revolutionary Carbon Cub S+ is the most versatile, capable and easiest to fly RC airplane yet. Based on the Carbon Cub by Cub Crafters, an upgraded and thoroughly modern iteration of the classic Super Cub, and equipped with Horizon Hobby's exclusive and innovative SAFE Plus GPS-enabled drone technology, this scale reproduction makes it easier to learn to fly in less time than ever before. Advanced features including AutoLand, Holding Pattern and Virtual Fence make it easy for almost anyone to fly successfully from their very first flight, while additional features including oversized tundra tires and optional flaps and floats offer the capability and versatility to fly from almost any surface, anywhere.

RTF Spektrum™ DXe 2.4GHz Transmitter

The included RTF version DXe transmitter is bound to the aircraft at the factory. The DXe can also be used with other RC aircraft as a pilot's skills progress.

Oversized Tundra Tires

Thick grass, gravel paths, dirt trails - Tundra wheels can tackle these and many other surfaces that would be impossible for most models of this size to handle.

Optional Flaps

The functional flaps are an option for impressive short-field takeoff and landing performance. This feature requires a 7+ channel computer transmitter, a flap servo, and a servo extension. (Sold Separately)

Optional Floats

Turn your model into a float plane with the optional Hobbyzone float set. Installation takes just a few minutes and all the necessary hardware is included with the aircraft and float set.

AutoLand

When activated after holding down a button, the advanced AutoLand function puts the Carbon Cub S+ on a stabilized approach to autonomously land near the GPS initialization point. You can even provide some directional guidance to avoid obstacles or to adjust the approach while letting the system do the rest to execute a safe landing. As your skills progress and you gain more confidence you can take over more of the control inputs, eventually learning to land without any assistance from the automated system at all.

Holding Pattern

This handy SAFE Plus exclusive feature lets you essentially "pause" a flight by putting the airplane into a GPS-guided holding pattern. When activated after the quick press of a button, the airplane will automatically return to a position above the GPS initialization point and circle until the command is cancelled. It's a great way to safely hand the controls to a friend or to regain visual contact if you ever lose sight of the model.

Virtual Fence

It's easy to accidentally let an RC airplane fly too far away, but with Virtual Fence worry no more because it creates an invisible boundary the airplane won't fly past. When the airplane reaches this boundary it will automatically turn around and fly back toward the GPS initialization point, then it will wag the wings to let you know when you have control again.

Panic Recovery

If you ever lose control of the airplane in the more advanced control modes simply switch to Beginner Mode and release the control sticks. SAFE® Plus technology will automatically return the airplane to level flight.

Beginner Mode

Pitch and bank angle limits prevent over-control that can result in a loss of orientation and crashes. When the control sticks are released the airplane returns to level flight on its own. Best of all takeoffs are as simple as giving full throttle and letting the airplane fly off the ground or by giving it a quick hand launch.

Intermediate Mode

More freedom in pitch and bank, but still prevents over-control and does not return to level flight on its own. This mode allows you to make tighter turns and to climb and descend faster as your skills advance. Beginner mode automatically activates and returns the airplane to level flight when the airplane descends below approximately 30 feet above ground level and the sticks are released.

Experienced Mode

No pitch or bank angle limits so you have complete control! You can even fly inverted (upside down) and perform aerobatic maneuvers including loops, rolls, stall turns and more. Panic Recovery Mode can be activated by switching to Beginner Mode and releasing the sticks.

I am looking at buying a carbon club S+RTF how much extra would it be for a 7 channel transmitter flaps done and extra battery
Asked by Paul Kehoe on 9th March 2019

So you could look at say the SPMR8100EU DX8e or SPMR8000 DX8 transmitters.

The flaps require servo PKZ1090 and extension lead PKZ5403

Batteries we have the 1300mah EFLB13003S or the higher capacity 2200mah EFLB22003S

Answered by: Ben @ Wheelspin Models

Does this include the floats?
Asked by Mordem on 14th March 2019

No, the floats are optional. They are HBZ7390

how much is the flap kit for HobbyZone Carbon Cub S+ RTF and can it be operated via the DXe
Asked by John King on 27th March 2019

You need 7 or more channels to operate flaps, so the DXe included won't cut it.

You could look at say the SPMR8100EU DX8e or SPMR8000 DX8 transmitters.

The flaps require servo PKZ1090 and extension lead PKZ5403

Answered by: Ben @ Wheelspin Models

Doe's the Supplied transmitter manage the flaps if fitted?
Asked by John King on 28th March 2019

No, you'd want a 7+ channel transmitter for flaps.

Answered by: Ben @ Wheelspin Models

It says that the flight time is 6-7 minutes is this a mistake or is it that low
Asked by Morgan on 11th April 2019

That's about right for the stock battery.

You could get nearly double that with the higher capacity EFLB22003S battery

Answered by: Ben @ Wheelspin Models

I never had RC plane but i am very professional in drones. Now i am very interested to have RC plane, after reading and watching some reviews, finally found that this model gives options for beginners and can be a good choice for them? am i right? or i need to use flight simulators first or another bigginer plane?
Asked by Omid on 23rd April 2019

You'd be fine with this as a novice to planes. They are very stable in flight, and designed as a trainer plane for beginners.

Answered by: Ben @ Wheelspin Models

how long would it take to charge t flighthe 1300ah battery in the car charger, and what flight time would I get from the same battery in normal

These will take around 45-60 mins to charge.

Flight time is around 5-10 mins per pack, depending on your flying style.

Asked by Brian on 25th May 2019

I would like to buy the Cub RTF but would like an all inclusive upgrade cost to replace the remote to a seven channels model and include the flap upgrade. Is it possible to have the flaps prefitted? Thanks Steven (07802 981100)
Asked by Steven Knight on 17th June 2019

Hi Steven,

We don't offer the flaps pre-fitted but it would be easy enough for you to do.

So you could look at say the #SPMR8100EU DX8e or #SPMR8000 DX8 transmitters.

The flaps require servo #PKZ1090 and extension lead #PKZ5403

Answered by: Ben @ Wheelspin Models

If I was to buy flaps extras with super cub does the DX controller get upgraded at small cost and original removed?
Asked by Pip Dunn on 4th June 2020

The included DXe will not be able to support flaps.

You would need something like the DX8 for them.

Answered by: Ben @ Wheelspin Models

I've just ordered this product and I'm looking forward to receiving it. Can you tell me if the DXe transmitter can use a re-chargeable battery, and if so do you stock it?
Asked by David on 3rd July 2020

We'd usually run 4 x rechargeable AA's in there and use a charger such as NX83 to charge up.

Answered by: Ben @ Wheelspin Models

Can you use transmitter off mini app.
Asked by Edward Welsh on 28th July 2020

If your transmitter has a DSMX logo and 6+ channels, then yes it should work fine
