1:18 1986 Ford Sierra RS Cosworth - RHD Black

Amerang and Norev have teamed up to produce a range of classic motoring icons in 1:18th scale. All limited and individually numbered. The first in this exciting new range is the 1986 Ford Sierra RS Cosworth in Black.

The Ford Sierra RS Cosworth was a high-performance version of the Ford Sierra.  It was the result of a Ford Motorsport project with the purpose of producing an outright winner for Group A racing. Presented to the public at the 1985 Geneva Motor Show, Ford’s plan was to release it for sale in September 1985 and closing production of the 5,000 cars (A requirement for participation in Group A was that 5,000 cars were built and sold) in the summer of 1986.

As prototypes started to emerge, dealers were invited to test drive the Cosworth, and this increased the enthusiasm for the new car. In addition, Ford took measures to reduce the price on the car, so was only offered in three exterior colours and one interior colour.

The RS Cosworth was launched in July 1986, and 5545 were manufactured in total of which 500 were sent to Tickford for conversion to the Sierra RS500 Cosworth.
