Rich Speed tests his Cars

Updated 2023-10-12 by Rich

I have done some speed tests on my RC cars (the ones that currently work!).

Here are my spec lists and results:

Schumacher Mission FT (car on the left - now 4wd converted)

LRP 10t brushed motor

80a Crawler ESC

22t pinion/85t spur (very conservative gearing as car is set up for racing/driveability)

2s 7.6v shorty result: 33mph.

3s 11.1v result: 40mph - very quick run as the ESC didn't like this voltage at all!

The motor I am using for racing is actually a bit slower - a 19x2 brushed. This motor had a test conducted too:

The next car should be faster with a brushless motor setup.

Tamiya TT-02b Neo Scorcher with lots of nice modifications

Hobbywing Quicrun 3700kv 3660 motor

Hobbywing BL120 G2 ESC

20t pinion/48t spur (motor cogging a bit at slow speed)

2s result: 52mph (awesome!)

3s result: 58mph - the ballooning tyres are now letting the car down. I cannot keep the throttle pinned. I’m confident it will do over 70 quite happily once I have the tyre issue sorted, but for now very good results!

I'm building a new TT-02b with some more tweaks that should allow me to properly open up this motor.
