So here we are, after having lots of fun using my Pro4 SC10 off road ( as can be seen here ) I thought I would do a couple of speed runs to see what the difference in speed is by running 2S or 3S Lipo batteries. For this we are using a Sky RC GNSS speed meter.
There is a bit of a “speed run” challenge going on here at the moment, with some of the team making some pretty awesome speeds with their Tamiya TT-02’s etc.
This is the first time I am using the Pro4 SC10 on road (our car park lol) but having previously seen how quick the car is on 3S off road, a few of us were expecting around 50mph. The results were quite interesting.
So, we get the body off the car, and then got the sensor cable tied to the rear of the car and off we go!
The first run was using 2 cell lipo, which we were expecting to be around 25-30mph and our guesses were pretty much on the ball, with the car reaching 30mph.
Now was the moment of truth with running it on 3s lipo. We got the battery swapped over and off we went!
Now this is where the results are quite interesting. The car got to a maximum speed of 42mph. Not bad by any means, but the difference we could see off road seemed to be a lot more than 12mph.
If you have watched my video on our youtube channel, it really does show that while 42mph on road might not be quick to some, I personally feel that off road it is more than enough.
So, quite interesting readings, but I will still be using my Pro4 SC10 for a good while yet.
