Oxford Ochre Story
Named after the earth pigment recorded by 17th-century Oxford professor Robert Plot, Oxford Ochre traces its finest source to the Shotover Hills near Oxford. Valued for its rich tone and hardy nature, it has long featured in decorative work from house painting to fine art. Part of the Jubilee palette, it celebrates British heritage with roots in the pioneering British Standard colours of the 1930s.

Oxford Ochre Story
Oxford Ochre was named after the earth pigment described by the 17th century naturalist and Oxford professor, Robert Plot. He identified the source of the best yellow ochre of its kind as being located at the Shotover Hills, near Oxford. Its rich colour and hardy nature made it popular for many decorative purposes from painting houses to fine artwork.
