We run 3 rounds of qualifying and 1 final. Some helpful points to note:

  • Select your ability when booking in and we will use this combined with any previous laptime data to group similar ability drivers together
  • Races are 5 minutes long
  • No practice, no hot laps
  • Qualifying is FTD (Fastest Time of the Day). This will seed you in the finals based on your fastest 5-minute run.
  • In qualifying remember you are racing the clock, not each other - let faster drivers pass
  • Qualifiers are run on staggered starts - wait to hear your car number announced before you go!
  • Finals are gridded up along the main straight and are a "heads up" start (everyone go on the beep!)
  • Finals are heads-up racing, so only let someone pass if they are lapping.
  • You will be awarded an extra championship point for the fastest lap time in your final

You will need:
  • Suitable Car: See the class categories for each booking. All cars must be equipped with suitable tyres.
  • Transponder: You will need a compatible transponder (MyLaps or MRT transponders will work), which can be purchased from our store. A small number of transponders are available to rent for those who do not have their own.
  • BRCA Membership: Each driver will need to have their own membership. This can be purchased quickly and easily through the link below.
  • LiPo Charge Bag/Box: Safety is paramount at Wheelspin Raceway. All LiPo's must be charged in a suitable charging pouch or (preferably) a Bat-Safe.
  • Suitable Batteries and Tools: For those last-minute adjustments.
  • Pit Mat: All pit tables must be covered. Bring an old towel if you don't have a proper pit mat.

Yes, beginners are welcome. Our practice session are great for you to learn the ropes, be around more experienced drivers and ask plenty of questions to soak up how things work on race nights.

Please bear in mind it does take a degree of skill to master getting a buggy around a track without crashing at every turn. If you're not there yet, don't worry - get some practice in on a car park first before heading to our practice sessions, and then onto our race nights!

When you're ready, race nights are a good step up and we always make sure to seed similar ability drivers together - so you won't be holding up faster drivers.

We are so passionate about this hobby and keen to get new people into it! So please don't be afraid to try something new - our helpful team are always here to guide you along your way.
