Built for serious marine performance, the Castle Creations Hydra Cobra 5 HV (P-CC010-0183-00) is a next-generation 12S / 50.4 V brushless ESC re-engineered for water from the proven Cobra 5 HV platform. It delivers smooth 32-bit control, data-rich performance monitoring and robust protection in a rugged, water-ready package. Suggested compatibility: RC hobby boats up to 50 inches. Thermal management is a standout. CRYO-DRIVE technology reduces the time electrical components spend generating heat to improve efficiency at partial throttle, while a CNC aluminium case and waterproof epoxy potting protect the electronics and aid heat transfer. A machined, water-cooled heatsink with 0.17" fittings further enhances cooling for sustained performance in demanding runs. Upgraded current-sensing and thermal protection actively mitigate risk in aggressive or high-load setups.

For tuning and telemetry, the Hydra Cobra 5 HV offers enhanced data logging with double the maximum sample frequency and up to eight times the logging duration of previous generations. It records ESC electrical motor timing and acceleration data via the onboard accelerometer, and a looping feature helps prevent interruptions so you capture complete sessions. Audible alerts assist with quick diagnosis of common issues such as motor over-temperature and low-voltage cutoff, while a Limp Mode makes returning to shore easier when low voltage cutoff is activated.

Setup is flexible. The internal BEC is highly adjustable from 5.0 V to 8.5 V in 0.1 V increments, and an auxiliary wire enables on-the-fly adjustments using your transmitter. You can program six common settings from the transmitter, including cutoff voltage and drag brake. Connectivity is simple too: the Castle Link V4 USB programmer is included for access to tuning options and free firmware updates, or pair the ESC with a B-Link 2 Bluetooth Interface and the Castle Link 2 app on Android or iOS for wireless optimisation.
