Description
The XRay X4 BB Gear Differential for Uni Bulkheads - Set, part number XR304903, is a complete gear differential set for the X4 platform. It provides suggested compatibility with X4 uni bulkheads and is supplied as a non-pre-assembled assembly.
The set combines an updated composite differential case and cover with an integrated pulley, precision-moulded composite differential gears and light aluminium hardcoated outdrives. This combination creates a smooth-running gear differential while keeping the assembly light. The case shape has also been revised to position the rear belt more centrally, supporting consistent forward traction.
Design and Operation
Small bleeding holes around the M2.5x8mm case screws help excess oil drain from the differential and reduce the chance of stripping the case when the screws are tightened. The sealing system is designed to prevent leakage, while the gear differential format avoids the regular oil changes associated with some other differential arrangements.
When built correctly, the differential is designed to run for a long period without routine maintenance. It also increases on-power steering, making it suitable for use on both carpet and asphalt tracks. The pulley, case, gears and outdrives are all included in the complete set.
Assembly
This differential is not factory pre-assembled, so the gears, oil, case, cover and outdrives must be assembled before use. Careful assembly and correct tightening of the case screws are required to make use of the sealing and bleeding features. The updated case design, central rear belt position and composite gear construction are all specific to this X4 differential assembly.

The diff case has been designed for X4 platform and features small bleeding holes for the M2.5x8mm screws, to minimize the chance of stripping the diff case when tightening down the screws. The bleeding holes also allow excess oil to drain out.
