Description

The XFly C-17 Fuselage, part number XF124-01, is a fuselage component for an RC model aircraft. It is identified as a C-17 fuselage for model aircraft building, repair or restoration work.

Safe and lawful flying remains the operator's responsibility. UK requirements changed on 1 January 2026, and most drones and model aircraft flown outdoors require both a Flyer ID and an Operator ID. A Flyer ID is obtained by passing a theory test, while an Operator ID comes from registering with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

The requirements depend on the weight and class of the completed drone or model aircraft. For aircraft weighing from 100g to less than 250g, an Operator ID is required when a camera is fitted and optional when there is no camera. For aircraft under 100g, a Flyer ID is recommended and an Operator ID is optional. Check the CAA's current drone and model aircraft guidance before flying outdoors in the UK.

Specifications

Safe flying is YOUR responsibility.

Update 01/01/26: The laws have changed regarding operating drones and model aircraft in the UK.

What you need to do:
You must take a theory test and register with the CAA before flying most drones or model aircraft outdoors in the UK.
There are two requirements and you may need to meet both:

  • Pass a theory test to get a Flyer ID.

This makes sure you know how to fly safely and legally.

  • Register with the CAA for an Operator ID.

This registers you as someone who is responsible for a drone or model aircraft.
Most people get their Flyer ID and Operator ID at the same time.

It is against the law to fly a drone or model aircraft without having the required IDs.
You can also be fined for breaking the law when flying. In the most serious cases, you could be sent to prison.

The requirements are based on the weight or class of your drone or model aircraft.
