J Concepts 2023 Ford Raptor, includes JC5131 Body Mount

One of the most extreme trucks on the road is now available to fit one of the wildest RC vehicles on the market. The Ford Raptor built to fit the Traxxas X-Maxx was a heavy-duty project. After fully examining the dimensional aspects of the large-scale RC juggernaut, the team made allowances for tire clearance and to fit within the stock bumper concept. The JConcepts team engineered a new body mounting system so users can now enjoy different types of body shells without needing them to merge exclusively with the clip-less system.

The Ford Raptor extra-cab concept was used to give a little more baja -ready look while also providing a great balance of the front-end details and bed design. The recessed front grille and headlight area is perfect for included decals and the chiseled look of the entire hood is very Raptorized with hood cowl. The cab is balanced into the design with the iconic Ford drop-down windows and heavy built-in brace behind the rear of the cab.

The lowered rear bed section has a stepped feature to provide some rigidity to the design and maintains its truck-like appearance. The wheel wells have large clearances and large fender flares and keep the Raptor structurally secure along the sides. The body tucks neatly down into the chassis side guard area giving the side panels a place to rest during high-speed runs. A master class in full-scale inspiration converted to RC form and function, the JConcepts body has many changes in feature heights, undercuts, and clean draw sections revealing some of the best detail from the #gojconcepts team.

The JConcepts Raptor body is formed in ~2.0mm thickness polycarbonate material and built for drivers wanting the best looks, painting versatility, and lightweight performance. A very rugged material, but not “unbreakable” or recommended for the basher testing the limits of insanity with their machine. The pre-trimmed body comes with protective film applied, window mask for quick painting practice, a large and 2-piece decal sheet to get the best looks available.

In addition, JConcepts includes the injection molded and newly engineered body mounts front and rear for versatility to add this and new upcoming shells. The team has built and included a specialty locking style body clip for security and rubber leash units to tether the body clips to the shell itself. The entire package arrives complete, it’s up to the user to add the paint of their choice and to hit the circuit with JConcepts fit, finish, and styling.

Pro tip: For a longer lasting body, carefully slot or slightly elongate body holes so when the chassis or vehicle construction flexes, the body mounts can move through a slot. This technique allows the body not to act as a chassis brace and maintains more roaming freedom for the body itself.
