Tamiya MF01X Review
Updated by Frank
The Tamiya MF01X MK2 escort rally car is a 4wd monocoque frame with integrated gearboxes, this compact 4WD chassis gives a thrilling drive whether you take it on road or flat dirt surfaces. It has an adjustable wheelbase so that it can be used with a variety of M-chassis body shells. In terms of the chassis build it is fairly straightforward and for the more experienced RC enthusiast it would likely only take an evening to fully assemble.

Is it any good?
Whilst being a basic chassis with basic electronics the MF01X certainly offers plenty of fun on loose surfaces and tarmac car parks, so far mine has proven to be very reliable and (touch wood) I have not broken anything on it yet. I have removed the centre driveshaft in mine purely as I could not have a 4wd MK2 escort and even on this crude 2wd setup it still works well! It is a great addition to any Tamiya collection for display or to use for rallying so Definitely worth considering as your next project!

My only criticism with the MK2 escort kit is that the body only comes in white in the kit so if you want a different colour you have to buy an additional clear body set. Whilst this isn’t a big issue it's just worth bearing in mind if you have a particular paint scheme in mind.
