TT-02 Front hub DIY mod
Updated by Rich
Here is a quick DIY upgrade I did to the steering on my stock TT-02 chassis. It is a well known fact especially among racers that the stock TT-02 arms have a load of unwanted play in it and can potentially be massively improved.

I wanted to see if I could improve it on a very small budget.
The only parts I have used are some steering arms off an FTX Vantage and 4x m3 bolts and 2x m3 nuts - total cost is less than £8.

The only thing that needs to be changed is the length of the FTX arms as they are slightly too long.
What we are doing essentially is using the arm to solidify the gap between the bumper and the top of the front hubs.

This will hopefully take all of the unwanted play out of the front arms and make the car much more pinpoint. Begin by taking out the screw on top of the front hubs.

The arm needs to be cut slightly shorter on one end and then the end cup can be screwed on further reducing the length of the arm to the desired amount. Repeat this step with both arms.

Use another m3 bolt and screw it up from underneath the bumper as shown before securing it with a nylock nut.

Here is the finished upgrade, and it has made the front end much more solid. There is literally no wobble left at all. The great thing is that due to the ball jointed ends, they actually work beautifully with the suspension travel and also are fully adjustable for toe in/out adjustments. Bear in mind the car pictured also has an aluminium steering upgrade. This DIY hack can also be done on a totally stock TT-02 and should hopefully make a nice difference to the handling.
