The Tamiya MudMad (HC-57412) is a compact, characterful R/C assembly kit built on the SW-01 4WD chassis. Styled by renowned designer Yamazaki Takayuki, its lightweight polycarbonate body comes pre-painted in light blue with wheel arches and body mount holes pre-cut, so you can get to the action faster. With big tyres, tight turning and a playful chassis balance, the MudMad delivers wheelie-ready fun and even dramatic jackknife moves under braking.

At just 190mm long and 160mm wide, the SW-01 is a super-compact gear-driven 4WD platform. A centrally mounted Type 370 motor feeds power to the front and rear through gears and planetary differentials, while the high-mounted power source helps the model pop exciting wheelies. MacPherson strut suspension at all four corners and a one-piece upper arm that links left and right steering motion work together to suppress roll and achieve a remarkably tight turning circle.

Mad for It!
This assembly kit creates the compact yet highly characterful MudMad, an R/C model with a body inspired by full-size cross country vehicles, that is the brainchild of world-renowned design heavyweight Yamazaki Takayuki. It is molded in lightweight polycarbonate, and to ease the burden on its owner is pre-painted in light blue with wheel arches pre-cut and body mount holes made. The model is based upon the gear-driven 4WD SW-01 chassis, which employs gear differentials front and rear and offers superlatively tight turns. Slam on the throttle to perform wheelies, or the brakes for exciting jackknife moves; this big tire model is your passport to some serious fun!

SW-01: Super-Compact 4WD
190mm long and 160mm wide, the SW-01 is a compact, highly fun 4WD chassis. A Type 370 motor is central in the slim monocoque frame, with gears transmitting its output to the front and rear of the model, where 69mm tires translate it into a powerful drive. The chassis power source is mounted in the top section to allow wild wheelies under acceleration. Strut type 4-wheel independent coil sprung suspension utilizes single piece upper arms to link left and right wheel steering motion, helping suppress roll during turns, and together with front and rear differentials realize a tight turning circle.

- The Yamazaki-designed body oozes character and is a perfect match for the compact SW-01 chassis.

- To save time, the body comes pre-painted in light blue with wheel arch and body catch sections pre-cut.

- The central Type 370 motor transmits power to front and rear via gears in a 4WD setup.

- A moving upper arm links left and right suspension, cushioned by MacPherson struts.

- A close-up of the steering. The one-piece front upper arm is attached to the steering linkage for lean.

- This image shows the rear suspension, which employs the same strut setup as is used on the front.

- The wheelie bar assists wheels in the air action, while exhaust depictions add a layer of realism.

- Give it plenty of throttle and the MudMad will delight you with thrilling wheelies!

- Attach the separately sold Item 54898 SW-01 Upper Arm Connectors to enjoy crazy steered wheelies!
