Team Associated RB10 Unboxing

Updated by Nicky

The Team Associated RB10 is a 1/10 scale RC buggy, which looking at the specs should make this a very appealing buggy for the money.

With the recent news of us at wheelspin models having our very own in door race track for 1/10 buggies, this could be a very popular choice of car for people looking at getting into entry level 1/10 buggy racing.

Before we take the car out for a spin and see what it’s like, let’s get this unboxed and take a closer look at the Team Associated RB10.

Out the box the first thing you notice when you open the box of your Team Associated RB10 is how well-packaged the items are. The RB10 is cable tied down inside in the box and your transmitter is in it’s own cardboard box to the end of the box, so you won’t have your transmitter catching on your car and marking. There is also some clear protection tape on the top of the body as well to stop it getting marked in transit. As well as the car and transmitter, you get a sealed bag which includes your manual and some additional stickers.

The car comes fully already built and includes all the electrics and radio gear. All that is required to get you running is either a 6 cell Nimh or 2/3S Lipo battery with a deans connection on it, and compatible charger depending on if you went for Nimh or Lipo battery. You will also require some AA batteries for the transmitter.

Under the skin of the Team Associated RB10 is the 3S capable, high powered, water resistant Reedy electronics. This is used to power their powerful Reedy 3300kv brushless motor which is mounted at the rear of the chassis powering the rear wheels. Talking of the chassis, the RB10 features a low centre of gravity molded composite chassis which features hook and loop battery straps that accommodate your battery of choice to fit in the car. Controlling the car comes thanks to the Team Associated XP120 2.4Ghz 2-channel radio which features a DVC (Dynamic Vehicle Control) receiver featuring a built in adjustable gyro. As is the norm now in RC, the controller is a wheel and trigger style, rather than stick style transmitter.

To help keep the handling nice and easy to use, the RB10 has Aluminum 12mm big bore coil-over shock absorbers and High-grip, off-road tires with aggressive tread pattern fitted to off-road buggy race car-inspired dish wheels.

The body is typical off road buggy style along with the rear wing. The car is available in 2 colour options, red or blue. The body can be purchased separately in these colours too, and a clear body version is also available if you wanted to paint your own body with a polycarbonate paint.

I'm really pleased to have this Team Associated RB10 in my RC collection.

This is my first RC buggy, and is completely different to my usual rally cars that is normally in my collection.

With the news of our soon to be built track here at Wheelspin Models, it was a no brainer to look into a RC buggy that I can go and have a bit of fun on a proper track.

Having previously owned the Team Associated SC10, and being really impressed with that, I do have high hopes for the RB10. Will it live up to those expectations? We will find out shortly when I take the RB10 out for it’s first drive. Expect a review article shortly on our knowledge base to read my thoughts on this cracking 1/10 buggy.
