ICM’s American Expeditionary Forces in Europe – 1918 (HC-ICMDS3518) captures the look of the AEF on campaign in France. Created in the summer of 1917 and commanded by General John Joseph Pershing, the AEF fought alongside French, British, Canadian, New Zealand and Australian units. By spring 1918 more than a million U.S. soldiers were in France, and as training and combat experience grew, the AEF increasingly operated independently. Despite more than 320,000 U.S. casualties, by November 1918 the force was a modern, battle-hardened and highly motorised army.

This 1:35 plastic model kit set brings that motorisation and manpower to the bench with key American vehicles and figures to build a marching column scene. Precision-moulded sprues, clear assembly guidance and a substantial parts count support a detailed and rewarding build for World War I vehicle and figure modellers.

The American Expeditionary Force (AEF) was created in the summer of 1917, and by the spring of 1918 more than a million American soldiers were already stationed in France. The expeditionary forces consisted of infantry divisions and marines.

Commanded by General John Joseph Pershing, American soldiers fought alongside units from the French, British, Canadian, New Zealand and Australian armies. Pershing wanted the AEF to be able to act independently, without the help of the Allies, and eventually, when the training and combat experience of American soldiers reached the required level, it became possible.

US losses in this war were more than 320,000 killed and wounded American soldiers. Nevertheless, by the time the war ended in November 1918, the U.S. Expeditionary Forces were a fairly modern and battle-hardened army with a high level of motorisation, and many considered it one of the best armies in the world.
