Description
The ICM B-26B Marauder Flak Bait. 322nd Bombardment Group, part number HC-ICM48321, is a 1:48 scale plastic aircraft model kit. It represents the B-26B-25 modification of the Marauder bomber with serial number 41-31773, an aircraft that became known as ‘Flak-Bait’ while serving with the 322nd Bombardment Group in England and Europe.
The original aircraft completed 206 combat missions between summer 1943 and spring 1945, despite repeated damage from anti-aircraft fire and the replacement of its control surfaces, hydraulic systems and electrical systems. This kit reproduces the aircraft’s geometry and proportions, with detailed cockpit and fuselage equipment. The parts are supplied on detailed plastic sprues, and the set includes assembly instructions to guide construction.
The decal sheet provides markings for three documented periods of the aircraft’s combat service. These options allow the completed model to represent ‘Flak-Bait’ with the 322nd Bombardment Group in England during mid-1943 or summer 1944, or during combat missions in Europe in spring 1945.

Specifications
According to American pilots, many of their planes seemed to attract large amounts of shells fired by the Flak guns. Based on this, Lieutenant Farrell, a crew member of bomber 41-31773, coined a nickname for their plane – ‘Flak-Bait’. This name was a playful adaptation of the nickname of the Farrell family’s dog, who supposedly attracted hordes of fleas and was called ‘Flea Bait’. The plane oddly began to live up to its name, receiving hits from anti-aircraft shells in almost every mission. Every control surface was replaced at least once, and the hydraulic and electrical systems sustained damage. Twice, the plane returned with only one functioning engine. Despite these challenges, ‘Flak-Bait’ completed 206 combat missions – more than any other US aircraft during World War II.
