Description

The ICM Do 17Z-2 - WWII German Bomber model kit, part number HC-ICM72304, is a 1:72 scale plastic aircraft kit. It represents the twin-engine Dornier Do 17Z-2 bomber, a version produced from 1939 with a Waffenkopf-type nose and air-cooled Bramo 323 Fafnir engines.

The Do 17 was developed in the early 1930s to provide a high-speed bomber capable of outpacing contemporary fighter aircraft. Around 500 Do 17Z-1 and Do 17Z-2 bombers were produced between 1939 and 1940. The aircraft operated with the Luftwaffe during campaigns in Poland, France, the Balkans and the Eastern Front, as well as during the Battle of Britain.

This ICM kit contains 180 parts for assembly and includes detailed instructions. The moulded parts are presented on detailed sprues, allowing the aircraft's twin-engine layout and distinctive nose design to be represented at this scale. Four marking options are provided for aircraft associated with operations in France, Greece and the USSR.

Specifications

In the beginning of the 1930s, there was a desire for a high-speed bomber that could outpace contemporary fighter planes. One plane to come to fruition from this desire was the twin-engine bomber Do 17 designed and produced by German company Dornier Flugzeugwerke. Since the beginning of 1939, they produced Do 17Z planes with new “Waffenkopf” type nose part and air-cooled Bramo 323 Fafnir engines. In 1939-1940, they produced about 500 Do 17Z-1 and Do 17Z-2 bombers. These planes took part in Luftwaffe operations in Poland, France, the Balkans, the Eastern Front, and the Battle of Britain.
