The eTronix Universal Electronic Magnetic Switch ET0774 is a contactless power-control switch for RC and electronic applications. It uses magnetic switching instead of mechanical contacts, allowing the model to be switched externally without unplugging the battery or opening a sealed compartment.
The switch accepts an input voltage from 3.5V to 13V and provides a constant 15A output at 25°C. It can also handle a burst current of up to 45A for 0.1 seconds. A 60mV dropout voltage at 20A helps limit power loss, while standby current below 10µA reduces battery consumption when the system is idle.
This ET0774 version is supplied with 170mm of 14AWG heavy-duty wire and has no connectors fitted. The bare wire ends allow the installation to be configured for a custom setup. The module measures 25 x 10mm, so it can be positioned inside a receiver box or sealed enclosure to help protect the electronics from dirt, fuel and water.
Applications And Features
Magnetic operation is suggested for sealed or waterproof RC installations where access to the battery or receiver box is restricted. Suggested applications include RC boats, yachts, gliders, race models and submarines. The supplied magnet allows the switch to be operated from outside a sealed compartment, helping retain the enclosure seal during normal use.
The contactless design avoids the mechanical wear points associated with a conventional switch. It also allows a model to be prepared in advance and left ready for use, with very low current draw while switched on but idle.
