would this fit an ftx carnage or are there any other shells other than the original ftx ones that will fit it

It might fit with some modifications, but it certainly won't be a "drop on" fitment.

The only bodies that will drop straight on are the standard ones, but there is a reasonable choice now at: wheelspinmodels.co.uk/s/?q=carnage+body+shell
