The ICM I-153 Chaika 1:32 scale plastic model kit (part HC-ICM32010) recreates the final and most advanced biplane fighter developed by the N. N. Polikarpov design bureau. Nicknamed the “Chaika” (Gull) for its distinctive gull-shaped upper wing, the real aircraft combined a retractable chassis and four ShKAS machine guns with robust radial power. In service, serial machines carried M-62 engines, with later series upgraded to the M-63. The type first flew in August 1938 and, with 3,437 airframes produced between 1939 and 1941, it formed a key part of Soviet Fighter Aviation alongside the I-16 in the summer of 1941, remaining in combat use until mid-1943.

This ICM kit focuses on accurate detailing and clean engineering. It features highly detailed sprues moulded in quality plastic, capturing the engine, cockpit and undercarriage structure with precision. Builders can equip the model with bombs and RS-82 rockets, and choose from four marking options using the included decal sheet. Clear assembly guidance is provided to support a confident, well-finished result for enthusiasts of early WWII Soviet aviation.

The final and most perfect aircraft in the N. N. Polikarpov design bureau production biplane fighter family was the I-153. It had a gull-shaped upper wing, retractable chassis and more powerful armament with four ShKAS machine guns. Serial planes had M-62 radial engines, while late series had the more powerful M-63. The maiden flight was in August 1938. Between 1939 and 1941, there were 3,437 planes manufactured. In the summer of 1941, the I-153 “Chaika” (translating as the “Gull”) was the basis of the Soviet Fighter Aviation with I-16 fighters. I-153 planes were used in combat until mid-1943.
