About The Sd.Kfz. 250/3

Developed on the technical layout of the Sd.Kfz. 10 artillery tractor, the half-track Sd.Kfz. 250 became a reliable and flexible platform for mechanised units. It helped integrate infantry and armoured movements across fast-changing battlefields.

Typical Sd.Kfz. 250 vehicles were fitted with one or two 7.92 mm MG34 machine guns and could carry a four-man infantry squad under armour. The 250/3 variant specialised in command and communications duties as a light armoured radio vehicle, serving as a nerve centre between forward elements and supporting arms.

Historical Notes

A notable example was "Greif", used by Erwin Rommel in North Africa as an advanced command post in close contact with the front line. The operational success of the Sd.Kfz. 250 series led to numerous variants, with the 250/3 standing out for its pivotal communications role.
