About The 1987 Paris-Dakar Bike

The Cagiva Elefant emerged in the early 1980s as an enduro motorcycle and, following Cagiva’s acquisition of Ducati, evolved from 1985 with a more powerful twin-cylinder engine. In the prestigious 1987 Paris-Dakar, the bike featured a distinctive large fairing over a steel tube and light alloy trellis frame. Its air-cooled twin delivered around 80 HP at 8,500 rpm, with an off-road top speed of approximately 185 km/h. The Saharan-ready setup included protective fairing, Ohlins off-road shock absorbers and a low front fender.
