Developed by Cantieri Riuniti dell'Adriatico from a design by Ing. Zappata, the aircraft featured wooden construction, a central hull and an extensively braced parasol wing. Conceived as a reconnaissance-bomber flying boat, it first flew in 1934 and went on to set world distance records in 1934 and again in 1935 with Mario Stoppani at the controls.
