About the DUKW

Developed from the General Motors CCKW-353 6x6 truck, the DUKW combined a 4,400 cm³ six-cylinder powerplant with three differentials and six driven wheels. Its welded, rib-reinforced hull made it amphibious, enabling operations on both land and water. Noted for its versatility and load capacity, it could carry a payload of up to 2,400 kg or transport 25 fully equipped troops.

DUKWs served with the U.S. Army, U.S. Marines, and Allied forces in multiple theatres. They played key roles in major amphibious operations, including the D-Day landings at Utah and Omaha, as well as Salerno, Anzio, and across the Pacific campaign.
