The Italeri Waterloo 1815 La Haye Sainte (HC-6197) highlights the pivotal farmhouse at the centre of the Battle of Waterloo. Positioned on Wellington’s defensive line, La Haye Sainte became a focal point of the day’s fighting and a symbol of the ebb and flow of the campaign.

Between 16 and 18 June 1815, French and Allied forces clashed across Belgium at Ligny and Quatre Bras, culminating in the decisive encounter at Waterloo on 18 June. The farm’s commanding position made it a key objective for both sides throughout the battle.

Historical Background

  • In the afternoon, Napoleon tasked Marshal Ney with seizing La Haye Sainte to secure a valuable forward position.
  • Allied troops, having fortified the buildings from the morning, mounted a determined defence against repeated assaults.
  • Supported by artillery, French forces captured the farm in the late afternoon after fierce, close-quarters fighting.
  • Around 7 p.m., the French Imperial Guard pressed the attack, but Prussian forces under Blücher reached the field in time to support the British, altering the course of events.
