Description
The ICM KDA-1 (Q-2A) Firebee with trailer (one aeroplane and trailer) is a 1:48 plastic model kit, part number HC-ICM48400. It represents the Ryan Firebee jet drone developed for the US Air Force as an aerial target. The prototype, designated XQ-2, first flew in 1951 before the aircraft entered service as the Q-2A. The US Navy and US Army operated a related version designated KDA-1, powered by a Fairchild J44-R-20B engine and distinguished by a front tip within the air intake.
The model depicts the Firebee with its transport trailer and includes parts for an aircraft display piece and supporting ground equipment. The original drone featured swept wings, tail surfaces and a forward air intake. Firebees could be launched from a carrier aircraft, including the A-26 Invader, or from the ground using a single JATO missile. The kit is suggested for use alongside the Invader family from ICM.

Specifications
The Firebee could be launched either by a carrier aircraft (the first of which was the A-26 Invader), or from the ground with a single JATO missile. Tests were final and the Firebee entered service as Q-2A. The US Navy and US Army are acquiring a slightly different version of the Q-2A, featuring a 1000 lb. Fairchild J44-R-20B engine and a front tip in the front air intake. He received the designation KDA-1.
