ICM Ki-21-Ia Sally Japanese Heavy Bomber Kit HC-ICM48196

The ICM Ki-21-Ia Sally - Japanese Heavy Bomber, part number HC-ICM48196, is a 1:48 scale plastic model kit of the Japanese aircraft known to American pilots as Sally. It represents the first production modification of the Ki-21 bomber, which entered service in 1938 and saw combat operations in China and against the Red Army at the Halhin Gol River. The kit contains 270 parts and includes detailed assembly instructions.

The model follows the geometry of the prototype and reproduces the outer fuselage skin. The nose can be assembled in two different versions, while alternative machine gun positions allow different configurations in the fuselage. The armament options include different types of machine guns, together with four bombs fitted in the bomb bay. Decals are supplied for five aircraft markings covering operational and training units from 1939 to 1943.

The Ki-21-Ia was developed as a heavy bomber with a combat payload of 1,000 kg. After later versions entered production, many early aircraft moved to training units, although some continued in combat service.
