Description
The ICM Ki-21-Ib Sally with Japanese Pilots and Ground Personnel, part number HC-ICM48197, is a 1:48 plastic model kit of the Japanese Ki-21-Ib bomber, known to Allied forces as “Sally”. The kit combines the aircraft with figures representing its aircrew and ground personnel, creating a model centred on the bomber and the people involved in its operation.
The Ki-21 was developed for the Army Aviation of the Imperial Japanese Army, supporting ground operations and engaging enemy aircraft during World War II. Its first prototype flew on 18 December 1936, followed by flight testing during the following year. Mass production began in spring 1938, with the aircraft produced by both Nakajima and Mitsubishi.
Kit Features
The aircraft model reproduces the geometry of the Ki-21-Ib and includes detail on the external skin of the fuselage. The set contains three pilot figures and two technical personnel figures. Pilot uniform details reflect the clothing used for bomber missions, while the ground personnel represent the simplified uniforms and overalls used by technical crews. Four decal options are provided for different markings.

Specifications
Bomber pilots wore flight uniforms designed in the early 1930s when carrying out missions. These could be summer or winter uniforms, with a lighter tropical version also available. Leather boots were worn, with pilots often writing their names on the inner surface. Ground personnel wore simplified versions of the uniform, often practical and comfortable overalls with fabric belts. Footwear could include leather military boots or the distinctive Japanese “Jika-tabi” with a split toe.
