The Kyosho Tomahawk 85 WC Worlds Spec Kit (K.30646B) recreates the works‑spec 2WD buggy that led Kyosho’s charge at the inaugural 1985 IFMAR 1/10 EP Off-Road World Championship. Released as the 20th model in the Kyosho Vintage Series in limited production, it builds on the acclaimed 2015 reissue with newly developed parts and key option components included as standard to deliver authentic looks and elevated performance.
A stainless-steel ladder frame, produced here for the first time, forms the core of the chassis for improved rigidity and durability. Rear suspension and gearbox plates are precision-machined from A7075 duralumin with a gunmetal finish, while an integrated steel caster lock and CNC-machined arm shaft lock reinforce the front end. Newly designed FRP shock towers feature front and rear, and an FRP servo mount plate helps lower the centre of gravity. Performance upgrades include a standard ball differential, slipper clutch for smooth power delivery (including brushless setups), and high-efficiency universal swing shafts. Styled after the car driven by designer Akira Kogawa, the kit also includes a rear wing, peppermint green wheels, medium-compound tyres, and newly designed decals.

Recreates the special-spec TOMAHAWK that competed
in the inaugural 1985 World Championship!
At the inaugural IFMAR (International Federation of Model Auto Racing) 1/10 EP (electric) Off-Road Car World Championship held in the United States in 1985, the latest racing buggies from around the world gathered to compete for the title. The Tomahawk led the Kyoshos charge in the 2WD class, including a works-spec machine driven by its designer, Akira Kokawa. 41 years later, the works-spec Tomahawk driven by its designer, Akira Kogawa, has been revived. Released as the 20th installment of the Kyosho Vintage Series in a limited production run, the Tomahawk 1985 World Championship Spec is based on the Tomahawk reissued in 2015. By incorporating newly developed parts and including optional components as standard, it faithfully recreates the World Championship entry model while delivering significant performance upgrades. The Tomahawk’s signature ladder frame has been updated to stainless steel, while the rear suspension plate and gearbox plate are made from A7075 duralumin to enhance chassis rigidity. Although a stainless-steel frame was prototyped back in 1985, it was never commercialized, making this 1985 World Championship Spec its first production release. The front suspension is reinforced with a combination of an integrated steel caster lock and a CNC-machined arm shaft lock. Newly designed FRP shock towers are used front and rear, and an FRP servo mount plate lowers the center of gravity, leaving no detail overlooked. In addition, numerous modifications, such as the addition of a rear wing and the inclusion of a ball differential as standard, both absent on the original Tomahawk, result in a finish worthy of the “World Championship Spec” name. Celebrating the racer that helped define EP buggy racing at the first IFMAR World Championship, this kit delivers both historic authenticity and thrilling performance for nostalgic fans and new enthusiasts alike.
