Description
The ICM LaGG-3 series 1-4 - WWII Soviet Fighter plastic model kit, part number HC-ICM48091, is a 1:48 scale aircraft kit. It represents the Soviet LaGG-3, a fighter developed shortly before the Second World War by S. Lavochkin, V. Gorbunov and M. Gudkov. The first I-301 prototype was completed in March 1940, with serial production beginning in January 1941 across five plants. The aircraft used an all-wooden construction and became one of three new Soviet fighter types introduced during this period.
The first three production series carried three BS heavy machine guns and two ShKAS machine guns. Later aircraft, including series 35, used the more powerful VK-105 PF engine, a ShVAK cannon, a BS machine gun and rocket projectiles. The LaGG-3 was also fitted with slots, aerodynamic rudder compensators and a retractable tail wheel. It served on the Soviet-German front, where pilots including Soviet Heroes L. Galtchenko and I. Evteev flew the type. Three captured examples later served with the Finnish Air Force.

Specifications
Serial production of the new fighter named LaGG-3 began in January 1941 on 5 plants. The main producer became the Plant 21 in Gorky. The first three series were completed with armament including 3 BS heavy machine guns and 2 ShKAS machine guns. Since autumn 1942 LaGG-3 was produced only the Plant 31 in Tbilysi. Aircraft series 35 had more powerful VK- 105 PF engine, armament included one ShVAK cannon, one BS machine gun and rocket projectiles.
It was equipped with slots, aerodynamic compensators of rudder and retractable tail wheel. LaGG-3 became one of three new types of Soviet fighters. In battles on the Soviet-German front, the LaGG-3 showed its solid construction and power armament, but it was too heavy and had difficult controllability, however in skilful hands it became a menacing weapon of air war. Many Soviet aces such as Heroes of the USSR L. Galtchenko and I. Evteev flew on LaGG-3. Three of the captured LaGG-3 served in Finnish Air Force.
