Prototype Background
Built in 1917 by Jungenthal, the agile three-coupled narrow gauge locomotive began service on the Pillkaller Short Line in East Prussia. Evacuated westward in late 1944, it later served the Spreewald Railway as DR 99 5633. Following closure of its home route, it joined the DEV, where it remains a treasured museum locomotive. LGB first introduced the 'Spreewald' to its range in 1988; this faithful reissue pays tribute to a short line classic with a remarkable history.
