LGB Dr Steam Loco 99 161 Ep III

The LGB DR Steam Loco 99 161 (Era III) is a finely detailed model of the German State Railroad locomotive, built for presence and performance. Heavy metal construction with numerous separately applied parts gives this model exceptional realism and durability, while two powerful motors deliver smooth, confident running. All driving wheelsets are driven by side rods for authentic motion on the rails.

Finished in a prototypical Era III paint scheme and lettering, this locomotive reflects how 99 161 appeared in the Fifties and Sixties on the Reichenbach Roller Carrier Line. Working doors to the cabs, walk-around and sheathing ends, plus an opening smoke box door and truck hatches, add to the hands-on detail and display appeal.

An integrated mfx/DCC sound decoder provides a wide range of light and sound functions, including directional headlights, cab lighting, running sounds, a whistle and a bell. Selected functions can be triggered by reed switches, enhancing interactive operation. Running sounds are also available during analog operation.

Built-in smoke units elevate the experience with steam exhaust synchronised to the wheel rotation, plus cylinder steam and steam from the whistle when activated. The model measures 47 cm (18-1/2") over the buffers, making a standout centrepiece for a detailed layout.
