Description

The ICM MiG-25PU - Soviet Training Aircraft, part number HC-ICM72178, is a 1:72 scale plastic model kit depicting the two-seat training version of the MiG-25 interceptor. Developed to train pilots to operate this unusual aircraft, the MiG-25PU was created after the Soviet air defence aviation service expressed interest in a twin-seat version.

The aircraft’s forward fuselage was redesigned up to spar number 1 to accommodate the instructor’s cockpit. Series production began in Gorky in 1970 and continued until 1985, with approximately 180 examples produced. This kit represents the aircraft in assembled model form and includes detailed assembly instructions to guide construction.

The kit contains 146 parts moulded on detailed plastic sprues. The available marking options cover aircraft operated by the Russian Air Force, including examples based at Ramenskoye and Monchegorsk, as well as aircraft from Belarus and the Libyan Air Force. The compact box contains the parts and instructions for building the model.

Specifications

Because of the need to train pilots to operate such an unusual aircraft as the MiG-25, a training version of the new MiG was developed and tested. The prototype was developed on the basis of the interceptor. Interest in the twin was also expressed by the customer – air defence aviation. Officially, the plane was created by the decision of the Military-Industrial Commission under the USSR Council of Ministers dated July 7, 1965.

The nose part of the plane up to spar number 1 was redesigned to place there the instructor cabin. Series production of MiG-25PU began in 1970 in Gorky, which continued until 1985. In total, about 180 copies of these machines were produced.
