FT Solid Front or Rear AxleNormally, diff action will allow the tires to grip or slip based on various track conditions regulated by the amount of tension applied by the diff springs. Diff action may allow the front outer wheel to turn faster than the front inner wheel during a turn for best traction, for instance. But with a front solid axle, the front wheels will be turning at the same rate, giving you sub-optimal steering. The solid axle outdrive parts will replace the diff outdrives, diff balls, and spring tensioner parts. There will be no adjustment screw on the solid axle. Because of its lack of diff action, it is sometimes called a locked diff.Used in the front, the solid axle works like a one way while on power. That is, the throttle applies power to the wheels, but when off throttle, the front wheels free-spin as it would in a 2WD car. However, unlike a one way, you still retain four-wheel braking capability. Since there is no minute delay caused by the diff slippage, the car can react instantly to your throttle, so consider using it in slippery conditions or for tight tracks with short, straight stretches.Used in the rear, on very high-traction tracks it gives excellent acceleration with good on-power steering. But it is less stable coming out of the turn. Team drivers don't use it in the rear. Also useful for drag racing. The car's diff action normally buffers the driveline against shocks. Because there is no diff slippage with a solid axle, more stress will be placed on the driveline, making it easier to damage the driveline parts, especially under impact.
