Zvezda Polikarpov I-16 Aircraft Model Kit HC-Z7330

The Zvezda Polikarpov I-16 model kit, part number HC-Z7330, recreates the Soviet I-16 Type 5 fighter in 1:72 scale. The I-16 became a symbol of the Red Army Air Forces during the 1930s and was designed by N.N. Polikarpov, who was known as the “King of Fighters”.

The Type 5 was the second production version of the aircraft. It introduced a new cowling and a more powerful M-25 engine, allowing the fighter to reach speeds of up to 450 km/h. During production, the design received a reinforced wing, larger wheels and an open cockpit.

I-16 Type 5 fighters saw service in the Spanish Civil War between 1936 and 1939, as well as in conflicts involving Japan and Finland. They also took part in the early stages of the Second World War. This kit includes decal options for Soviet and Spanish versions, allowing the finished model to represent aircraft from different periods of the type’s service.

Kit Features

The kit contains 76 parts and uses 100% new mouldings. Its compact scale presents the short, rounded form of the Polikarpov fighter, including the open cockpit, revised cowling and larger wheels associated with the Type 5 production version. The included decal sheet provides Soviet and Spanish markings for the supported finishing options.
