In the mid-1980s, there were new generations of Soviet air-to-ground air armaments. There were intermediate-range missiles such as the R-27ER (NATO code AA-10 Alamo C), R-27ET (Alamo D), R-77 (formerly RW-AE, AA-12 Adder), and short-range missiles R-73 (AA-11 Archer). To this day they are still part of the aircraft armament of Russian, UIC countries, and also Indian and Chinese Air Forces.
