Description
The Tamiya 1/24 Volkswagen Type 2 (T1) Blue & White (Clic Loc), part number HC-28102, is a plastic model kit of the 23-window Samba microbus. Designed for snap-together assembly, it requires no cement and uses parts moulded in the appropriate colours, so painting is not needed to complete the model.
This kit represents the Volkswagen Type 2 (T1), which was introduced in 1950 using the Volkswagen Beetle as its base. The rear-mounted air-cooled four-cylinder engine produced 44hp, while the box-shaped yet curved body provided space for nine adults. This blue-and-white version recreates the vehicle's exterior with colour-moulded body parts and plated details for features including the frames, side mirrors, wheel centre caps, light frames and Volkswagen emblem.
The interior is formed from a single part that includes the driver's seat and bench seating. Steerable front wheels add a movable feature to the completed model, while clear red and orange parts are supplied for the taillights. Stickers are included for details such as the window frames and meters, and the instruction manual combines illustrated assembly steps with technical tips and background information about the original vehicle.

As the very first model in the Clic Loc 1/24 Car Models, we are delighted to announce releases of 1/24 Volkswagen Type 2 (T1) in two colour variations - red/white (Item 28101) and blue/white (Item 28102)! Parts are moulded in the right colour, so you do not have to paint! Also, the number of parts is about half of that of 1/24 Sports Car Series kits. Each kit can be finished in about two hours!
March 1950 saw the debut of the Volkswagen Type 2 which took the much-loved Volkswagen Beetle as a base. An air-cooled 4-cylinder engine capable of 44hp was employed at the rear of the boxy yet curved body. One of the most popular among the wealth of its variations was the “Samba” microbus, which had a 23-window version encircled by windows and employing a canvas roof. It accommodated 9 adults and was notable for its flat floor and twin side doors. The Type 2 (T1) was produced until 1967, and ever since has enjoyed massive popularity the world over.
