Tamiya 1/48 Bf109 G-6 Late Model

The Tamiya 1/48 Bf109 G-6 Late Model (HC-61128) continues the brand’s legendary 1/48 Aircraft Series with a late-production variant of the iconic Messerschmitt fighter. Building on the research and engineering of Tamiya’s earlier G-6 kit, this edition adds newly moulded late-style engine cowlings, an Erla Haube canopy, and optional 21cm rocket launchers. The engine cowlings can be displayed open or closed and are interchangeable even after assembly, offering excellent flexibility for display.

About the Actual Aircraft

With over 30,000 built, the Bf109 is the most-produced fighter in history, and the G-6 was the most numerous variant. From summer 1943 the G-6 featured distinctive cowlings with a small bulge and an air scoop under the right nose bulge (the German “Beule”), plus smaller groove panels for the machine guns on the upper nose. By late 1943, the Erla Haube canopy improved visibility with reduced framing. From August 1943, 21cm rocket launchers were fitted beneath the wings to counter four‑engine bomber formations from the UK. The Bf109 G-6 served on both Western and Eastern fronts through to the end of WWII.

• Faithfully captured Bf109 G-6 lines based on extensive study of the real aircraft.
• Newly moulded late-model engine cowlings with a small bulge and an air scoop under the right nose bulge ("Beule"), plus machine gun ballistic smaller groove panels on the upper nose. Cowlings can be assembled open or closed and interchanged after assembly.
• Erla Haube canopy provided by new clear parts; assemble open or closed.
• Includes new parts to recreate features of the aircraft flown by Hermann Graf:
  • Rear-view mirror and canopy centre bulge to cover the mirror
  • Main landing gear bay doors and interiors with cloth covers removed
  • 21cm rocket launchers and their pillars under each wing
• Comes with decals to depict 4 marking options (planned), including that of Hermann Graf, plus a colour painting guide.
• Build options: early model, late model, or a mixed configuration combining early and late characteristics (smaller groove panels on the upper nose without the small bulge under the right nose bulge).
