The Tamiya German King Tiger Production (HC-32536) is a detailed 1/48 scale assembly kit depicting the formidable late-WWII heavy tank with the angular Henschel production turret. Combining sharp surface detail with a die-cast lower hull for authentic weight, it makes a striking centrepiece for late-war dioramas, including Ardennes front scenes.
About The German King Tiger (Production Turret)
Developed to counter increasingly capable Allied armour, the King Tiger paired exceptionally thick protection with a powerful main gun. The production version featured 150 mm frontal and 80 mm side hull armour, while the turret used up to 185 mm on the front and 88 mm on the sides. Its 88 mm L/71 high-velocity gun could penetrate approximately 170 mm of armour at 1,000 m, supported by two 7.92 mm machine guns. Power came from a 700 hp Maybach HL230 P-30 12-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine.

About the German King Tiger (Production Turret)
In order to counter the increasing threat of Russian tanks during the latter part of WWII, Germanybegan developing a new heavy tank, the King Tiger. The first 50 models featured a Porschedesigned turret, however in mass production runs a Henschel design turret was adopted.Designed for defense and attack, the King Tiger featured thick 150mm armor on the front and80mm armor on the sides, and a 88mm L71 high velocity main gun capable of penetrating170mm thick armor at a distance of 1,000m. Auxiliary armament included two 7.92mm machineguns mounted on the front hull section and on the turret. The extremely thick armor on the turretfront measured 185mm and 88mm on the side panels.This massive tank was driven by a 700hpMaybach HL230 P-30 12 cylinder liquid cooled engine.
