Description

The ICM U-2/Po-2VS - WWII Soviet Light Night Bomber, HC-ICM72243, is a 1:72 scale plastic model kit. It depicts the Polikarpov U-2, a biplane originally designed as a basic training aircraft and first flown in June 1927. From the early 1930s, the U-2 was used to train thousands of Soviet pilots, before wartime modifications allowed U-2VS aircraft to serve as light night bombers.

Following the death of designer N.N. Polikarpov in 1944, the aircraft was renamed the Po-2. This kit covers both U-2VS and Po-2VS designations, allowing the model to represent aircraft used during different stages of the Second World War. The parts are supplied on detailed plastic sprues, with assembly instructions included to guide construction.

Specifications

One of the most numerous and famous aircraft in aviation history was the Polikarpov U-2. It was designed as a basic training aircraft. The maiden flight was in June 1927. Since the early 1930s, the U-2 became the real “flying deck” for thousands of Soviet pilots. During WWII, U-2 biplanes were modified with weapons. These were designated U-2Vs and used successfully as light night bombers (in particular with female crews). In 1944, after N.N. Polikarpov's death, the plane was renamed to Po-2.
