The ICM U-Boat Type XXVIIB Seehund (Late) 1:72 scale kit (HC-ICMS007) recreates the most effective of Germany’s WWII midget submarines. The XXVIIB “Seehund” project was designed in spring 1944 and produced at Schichau Werk in Elbing and Germania Werft in Kiel, with 285 units completed by war’s end. Entering combat in January 1945 with the 312th K-Flotilla based in Ijmuiden, the Seehund undertook 142 combat actions and sank nine Allied ships. Post-war, four boats served with the French Navy until 1956.

The Seehund (“Seal”) was the most effective of the German midget submarines. The project XXVIIB was designed in Spring 1944. Serial production was developed in Schichau Werk in Elbing and Germania Werft in Kiel. Up to the end of war, there were 285 units produced. Since January 1945, they took active part in combat. Seehund midget submarines served in 312d K-Flottilla based in Ijmuiden (Holland). They accomplished 142 combat actions and sunk 9 Allied ships. After the end of war, four Seehund submarines served in French Navy up to 1956.
