UHU All Purpose Adhesive

The Crystal-Clear Universal All-Rounder for Conceptual Modelling, Card Kits, and Mixed-Media Builds

UHU All Purpose Adhesive is the proven, fast drying, and crystal clear universal liquid glue designed for dependable adhesion at home, in the office, and throughout the model making workshop. It is highly prized as an indispensable staple in the creative hobby sector for assembling card kits, wooden frameworks, architectural texture sheets, and scenic fabrics. This premium formula creates a highly durable, elastic bond that remains temporarily correctable, giving you the necessary window to adjust, align, and perfect your structural components before the adhesive completely cures.

Best Uses in Model Making and Fabrication

While this liquid adhesive is incredibly reliable for general construction, it excels best across specific workshop tasks and creative assemblies:

  • Card and Scenery Kits: Excellent for assembling scale building components, applying printed texture sheets, and general scenery construction without wrinkling the underlying paper.
  • Mixed-Material Bonding: Highly effective for sticking together diverse combinations of wood, wood based materials, metal, glass, porcelain, ceramic, leather, rubber, felt, cork, fabrics, cardboard, and most plastics.
  • Large Surface Area Coverage: Thanks to its comfortable open time, you can confidently spread this liquid glue across larger structural segments and structural panels before joining them together.

Professional Application Methods

  • For Absorbent Materials: When working with porous substrates such as wood, card, and fabric, apply a thin, even coat to one surface, press the parts together immediately, and allow the assembly to set.
  • For Non-Absorbent Materials: When joining two non porous substrates such as metal, ceramic, coated papers, or hard plastics, apply a thin coat to both surfaces and let them dry. Re apply a fresh thin layer, and then press the parts firmly together for an instant, high strength bond.
  • Precision Work Tip: Because of its thicker, honey like consistency, this adhesive can occasionally become stringy during manual application. To avoid a messy finish when working on finer, smaller details, use a syringe or a toothpick to apply the glue precisely.
  • Surface Preparation: Ensure all parts are clean, dry, and free from workshop dust or manufacturing grease. When working with smooth metals or plastics, slightly roughen the joining surfaces with fine emery paper first to maximise physical grip.

UHU Alternative Product Recommendations

While the standard All Purpose formulation is highly versatile, specific modelling materials require specialised chemical solutions to prevent damage and ensure clean, permanent results:

  • For Foam Models and Expanded Polystyrene: Standard solvent based adhesives will instantly melt and destroy delicate foams. For expanded polystyrene, EPS, EPP, and EPO, utilise UHU POR to create a clean, flexible, foam safe bond without damaging your structural material.
  • For Balsa Wood Architecture: When executing traditional balsa construction or assembling tiny, lightweight balsa components, utilise UHU HART Balsa Cement, which is specially engineered to dry rock hard and reinforce porous wood joints.
  • For Scale Plastic Kits: To achieve clean structural welding on difficult hard plastics, utilise UHU All Plastics Adhesive, which chemically fuses the plastic interfaces together for an unbreakable finish.
