About The s.Gr.W.34 Mortar

Produced from 1934 to 1945, the s.Gr.W.34 served widely in Wehrmacht infantry battalions as a key fire-support weapon. Range was adjusted by barrel angle and powder charge, and ammunition types included fragmentation, smoke, lighting and bouncing bombs. A trained crew could sustain up to 25 rounds per minute. For transport, the mortar was broken down into three loads carried by the crew; the complete system weighed about 60 kg. Mines were transported in boxes holding three rounds.

The s.Gr.W.34 mortar, produced from 1934 to 1945, was in regular Wermacht service during World War II. It was a means of fire support for German infantry battalions and helped ground units with combat tasks. The range of the mortar was adjusted by changing the angle of the barrel and the amount of powder charge on the mine.

The ammunition could include fragmentation, smoke, lighting and bouncing bombs. A well-trained mortar crew could fire up to 25 shots per minute. For transportation, the mortar was disassembled into three parts and transported by the combat crew. The total weight of the mortar was about 60 kilograms. The mines were carried in boxes, with three pieces in each.
